Reimagining Downtown

Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant brings new life to a century-old landmark in downtown Grants Pass

Main Street Grants Pass is thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a $400,000 Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant to help rehabilitate the historic Schallhorn-Harmon Building at 221 SE Sixth Street—right in the heart of our downtown.

Out of 76 applicants across Oregon, only 35 projects were funded in this grant cycle, which is backed by Oregon Lottery bonds and administered by Oregon Heritage. We’re proud to represent Grants Pass on that list!

What's Happening

With matching funds from local building owners Patty and Scott Hillier, this iconic two-story brick building—originally constructed in 1900—will be transformed into:

  • Partake Wine & Cheese on the ground floor

  • A second-floor restaurant and lounge in space that’s been vacant since the 1960s

  • A restored historic façade and stairway facing Sixth Street

  • A beautifully preserved space that will reflect our city’s character and evolving culture

“This is more than just bricks and mortar—it’s a new chapter for downtown Grants Pass.”
— Seth Benham, Co-Chair & President, Main Street Grants Pass

Why It Matters

This project reflects our organization’s mission to revitalize historic downtown by:

  • Preserving heritage architecture

  • Supporting local business innovation

  • Creating jobs and boosting tourism

  • Enhancing community connection

The project is expected to begin construction in summer 2025, with completion and grand opening in 2026.

“This is the kind of energy and progress we want to build on. It’s a spark for what’s next in downtown.”
— Michael O’Coyne, Co-Chair & Vice President
